Set of 8 George III Cockpen Mahogany Dining Chairs, circa 1850
A set of eight mid-nineteenth century dining chairs, comprising two armchairs and six singles, each with a 'Cockpen' Chinese open lattice back and generous saddle seats, having their original leather which is now in need of replacement - sold as found.
Cockpen chairs were made popular by Thomas Chippendale, named after pew chairs with a similar lattice design in the Cockpen Church, Midlothian, Scotland.
